It should be pointed out that we're all surprised that Marco Rubio didn't condemn the action.

All of which makes it that much more curious and troubling that we Jews, historically the targets of indiscriminate blame, can ourselves at times fall prey to the temptation to leverage our own hurt as a shield against moral accountability.

One need not be a political scientist to see how the traumas of October seventh have resulted in the rise of unchecked settler violence in the West Bank.

Israel was attacked, the enemy remains unrepentant, and therefore, whatever is done in response is justified.

Were they the colonizers? But so if you go back to the 67 borders, who do you give that back to? Judea, Samaria, the West Bank, East Jerusalem.

Are you going to give that back to Jordan? Because that's the 67 border.

Really? Are you going to give Gaza back to Egypt? I got to tell you right now, Egypt doesn't want it.

And, oh, Israel keeps them in an open-air prison.

What they're doing is they're using gay rights and feminism and social justice as excuses to do right-wing politics.

They're trying to get you to think that it's okay for Israel to keep Palestinians in Gaza and in the West Bank without their equal rights because they're supposedly backwards and fanatical and And they want you to think that Israel has no choice but to maintain its military rule for decades and decades, and to blow up all the cities in Gaza for the last three years, and let the entire population live in tents and shit in buckets with rats nibbling at their feet at night.

And Israel isn't special in this respect.

When the US wants to bomb Afghanistan, they say they're doing it to save the women.
