Alice brings a one-off prophetic sense of why we are as Hope Chapel pursuing being formed into a community of God’s love - for such a time as this
So we are going to do a series of talks, sorry, workshops together.
We're calling sprints, three in homes and three in Hope Chapel in October, November, six weeks of formation in the love of God and community.
And we're going to be looking at John 13 to 17, Jesus's words in the Gospel of John before he is betrayed and his sufferings and crucifixion, death and resurrection.
But I'm a real fan always of knowing our why.
Like, why do we do anything? Why do we do what we do? Why are we doing this? And so the actual evenings are going to be super practical, relational, day-to-day.
In our actual lives, what does it look like to be formed in the love of God and community? But what I'm going to do today is cast a bit more of a macro, big picture vision for the why it's so important for such a time as this, in the age we live in, that we seek to be formed into people of love.
And so some of us would have come here today with very personal challenges and pains in our own lives.
Some of us would have come with a real sense of the difficulties of what's going on in the world around us, and we will all have pain points on that spectrum.
So I want this to be a word of encouragement of hope for wherever you are, thinking about the very specific things in our own lives that are challenging to the bigger things.
And can we go to the next slide? Thank you.
Shall I get the...
So I have summed up what I think is the most important human, humane thing in the world.
The most enlightened activity a human can do is to love the person in front of them.
I think if we have that in the front of our mind with every single person in front of us, in front of us online, in person, in a shop, in our home, in an educational capacity, rich, poor, young, old, Vulnerable, apparently strong.
We're obviously all vulnerable.
Apparently vulnerable, apparently strong.
The most enlightened activity a human can do is to love the person in front of them.
So that's where we're going to land.
That's why we want to be formed into people of love.
But I want to go just a little bit higher.
and ask us a question which we can discuss.
