Shady Luna - El Monte - Ep. 472

Let's get into, like, what... set you on the path for 38 years, you know? Like, you said you couldn't wait to see your mother, you know what I mean? But what about your father? Was he there in the early days of Shady Luna?

Well, you know, I come from a single family home, you know, but...

My dad was in and out of my life, you know? My dad, you know, he was in and out of our life.

He came whenever he wanted to.

But, you know, from a young age, I've always known my dad was in the gang.

I've always known his brothers were in the gang.

I've always known my cousins were all in the gang.

You know what I mean? So I kind of looked at things where I was growing up as kind of being expected of me.

You know what I mean? And I just gravitated towards that gang life,

you know?

Ran around with other individuals who were trying to find themselves in life.

And we all just grasped onto that criminality, that gang life, you know?

And so, if you don't mind me asking, what year was it that you were initiated into the gang? I was about 13.

13? So what year was that? About

80, no, about 79.

79,

huh? 78,

79, yeah.

78, 79.

Wow.

Yeah.

And so how was it on the Monte side with the whole gang culture? I mean, being from one of the, probably the deepest, strongest neighborhoods in the SGV.

I say that respectfully to the neighboring neighborhoods.

But Monte Flores, bro, that's the big league right there.

The big dogs right there.
