Breaking the Barriers to Spiritual Growth - Jovahn Parenzee

I know I said verse 12 to the team, but something else popped up that I want to just bring some context.

So the author here, he's writing and he's speaking.

to a group of people, and the message that comes across is he's positioning Jesus as supreme, as Jesus as Lord, and he's speaking about the sacrifice that Jesus did and how Jesus was sent by God to do his will here on earth, and how he died for us, for our sins, and the author goes quite deep into Jesus as the high priest.

But he pauses and he says, there's much more we would like to say about this.

But it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don't seem to listen.

Does it hit deep? Verse 12.

Verse 12.

You have been believers so long.

Now that you ought to be teaching others, instead you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God's Word.

You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat salt food.

For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and does not know how to do what is right.

Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skills to recognize the differences between right and wrong.

Let me go to 1 Peter for you.

It will come up on the screen as well.

1 Peter.

Listen to what it says.

It speaks about spiritual milk.

I say, so get rid of all evil behavior.

Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation.

So Lord, thank you for your word.

May it bless us this morning.

In Jesus' name, amen.

Amen.
