'How do you read it?'" Now, this was a man that was in the law and under the law, and Jesus didn't come to abolish the law, he came to fulfill the law.

Some people say, "Well, I'm not under the law anymore." Y- yeah, but that wasn't Jesus' attitude to the law.

The law came to preserve a nation out of all the heathen, diabolical, rootless nations that were doing the most atrocious, abominable activities, and he came and took a group of people out of that so he could preserve them, so that in them he could preserve the knowledge that he is a good God, not a wicked tormentor.

But they misunderstood that, and they thought, "No, well, if we just keep this day right, and don't do this on this day, and don't mix with, uh, lepers and Samaritans and heathens and Gentiles, then that makes us holy." But it wasn't to make them holy.

It was to keep them separate from the nations who never had the knowledge of God.
