In the second episode of our “What’s Next?” series on Global Student Voices, host Mitchell Barure sits down with Coach Scott R. Martin to answer a real student question submitted by Juliana in Kigali…
One thing that definitely stood out to me was the fact that it's not a one size fits all.
So for every single student, there's somewhat of a different way in which they would adapt.
Thinking for myself even as well, I didn't think about any of these things when I was applying for college, for university.
I was just looking at, okay, Where can I find a scholarship? What can I do here? And I realized I was kind of looking at the journey, not as a whole, but as just, okay, what's in front of me now and can I deal with it? Okay, you say you need visa documents.
I know we have a new cohort that we are taking in at Global Student Solutions.
And I want to have an idea of how exactly the journey of a student who goes in the cohort would be different.
From the journey of, for example, Michelle, who now has gone through that journey on her own and is just figuring everything as it comes.
So we do have an eight-week program that's launching in May that I think does a really good job of putting everything in the right order.
And I think the biggest difference is that when it's out of order, it's harder.
I'm trying to think of a good illustration, but basically like your example, when you said you're just trying to fill the pieces that you need to fill the next piece.
Well, sometimes if you do things in, well, always when you do things in order, you have all those pieces ready when you need them.
You're not trying to figure out, okay, what's the answer they're asking for? How do I give them the right answer? You can honestly...
answer the question because you've already thought things through in the right order.
And so what the eight week program does is it condenses the whole process down into just eight weeks.
So as opposed to spending months and months and months or even years for some people doing all of it and trying to piece it all together, it puts it in a systematic order and fairly intensive, walks you through each step of the process so that you have each component solid.
