052: The Flying Car

Well, look, because that's a hot topic, let's get into it.

Tesla's flying car, the Roadster.

Now, I'll put a link to the video.

Everyone's seen this by now, surely.

So, yeah, the new model of the Roadster, got a link there, put to Tesla Australia.

It can fly.

It has thrusters in it.

Wow.

Okay, so you get the Roadster, plain old daggy Roadster.

It comes with two variants with two options, the rocket of the thrust model and the rocket model.

So the thrust model, the limited release.

And it has the thrusters out the back.

The rocket model, invite only, not approved for public road use.

Except it's not really a roadster.

It's like a mini version of that ugly looking cyber truck thing.

No, yeah, it's quite a departure from the previous two roadsters, isn't it? Yeah.

It doesn't look good.

I mean, so there only was the original Roadster, which was back from when Tesla was originally founded, which was their original model, which was where they were basically taking the Lotus Elise and they were swapping out the powertrain.

That was when the company was founded before Musk got involved.

That was their original pattern.

And then they switched to, no, actually, we need to do everything in-house, and they built the Model S. right okay right which is when they built the whole car so there hasn't been a roadster for quite some time like the one that um spacex put into uh put into space uh with the falcon heavy demo god so many years ago now that was one of those og roadsters

2012 i think i'm just just having a quick google here

was it that long ago No, surely it wasn't 14 years.

Well, the Roadster is a 2012 Tesla Roadster.

Oh,
