Well, and, and I think the, the really exciting thing is you and I have been chatting, we've been chatting in the background about, uh, Rise X DC coming up, and you're gonna come out, you're gonna join us.

And to your point, you're seeing thousands of attacks at scale, uh, i- in a way that most organizations don't get that kinda scope or breadth.

And so what'd be really exciting here is to just hear a... get a little bit of preview.

Obviously, you can't share everything here in the forum, that you'll be able to share it at our TLP event, TLP Red event.

But here, I'd love to talk a little bit about the trends you're seeing and why you feel like this is... why you're so passionate about this.
So I, I think what would be very beneficial is trying to shine a little bit of light on, um, what the cybersecurity industry understands of, um, primary initial access vectors, but also, uh, what, what tends to be spoken about a lot, um, in our little, um, echo chambers of, uh, um, cybersecurity news and cycles, uh, as opposed to what we're seeing, right? As opposed to what we're really seeing specifically against, uh, SMBs, like small...
I mean, uh, small, medium business, right? The smaller in, uh, smaller businesses, uh, US-based businesses.
Uh, b- the overall there, there tends to be, um, still, uh, a misconception, um, in, um, the overall targeting of ransomware groups, right? I mean, we, we, we have seen in, um, our previous years of tracking these operations where they were actually a lot more targeted, okay? And what we're seeing now is less targeted events, uh, and, and we keep seeing, um, mostly smaller organizations that, that seem to not think of themselves as a valuable or a high-value target by these ransomware groups.
But in reality, the industry has to switch this overall outlook to access brokers and what's being exploited and the vulnerabilities that are being targeted because it is true, I mean, initial access is still achieved via, um, vulnerability exploitation or bypass authentication altogether, right? Your, your, your VPN firewall.
But, um, uh, phishing is still a thing, right? But we're not talking about, uh, things like, um, you know, SSL VPN brute forcing, which I've talked about, you know, ad nauseam.
But, um, it, it's particularly dangerous for smaller organizations to think that they're not gonna be, uh, that they're not gonna brute force their SSL VPN, right? Uh, because it's just why would they come after me, right? Or, or why would they try to brute force that account? I'm the only one who, who's aware of that account, right? Um, or maybe they, they don't have good asset inventory or, or maybe, uh, maybe what we've seen, uh, lately with, uh, some RMN tools, um, and unfortunately this is a third-party issue where you have MSPs that are not patching their stuff and, uh, you have smaller companies that are, um, essentially just falling victims to ransomware events because initial access is gained through the unpatched MSP instance of whatever RMM tool, right? And then they can just move laterally.
Now, that victim doesn't even know what hit him, right? Because they're, they're essentially assigning all trust to that MSP, right? Um, so, so these are the sort of things that I, that I'd like to cover.
