Philosopher Stefan Molyneux talks with a caller about an older boy who violated him when he was 11, and how staying silent about it left him empty, undisciplined and sure he had no real value. JOIN…
Stefan MolyneuxHostI said, hi, Stefan.
I'm calling in as a 27-year-old.
leave that out as well? Okay, yeah.
And I want to talk to you about my personality and my lifestyle.
I said, I'm intelligent, but I'm living a very unfulfilling life.
I have no girlfriend.
I'm addicted to pornography.
I have no job.
I except those which I've created for myself.
So a small agency slash freelancing job and a consulting job in the renewable energy industry.
I've signed some big contracts, which I only get paid for if I successfully complete the work.
And I always assumed that if I had big contracts and had big things on the horizon that I'd be able to discipline myself.
But even now, I find myself wasting time.
I'm addicted to YouTube.
I constantly scroll and read the news.
I am in a 12-step program for sex and love addiction, but I'm not really adhering to it particularly well.
And I also binge eat and eat quite erratically with my emotions.
I go through periods where I'm extremely diligent.
I go to the gym, I go to hot yoga daily, etc.
But I can't string together more than a week or so of this consistency at a time.
I'm not sure how well that's working.
I can sit down for about 10 hours and work nonstop, but I still feel unfulfilled.
I have no social life.
I'm anxious.
I'm neurotic.
I eat very poorly.
I also am living with my brother right now.
If I was going to put it uncharitably, I'd say that I'm basically mooching off him, freeloading off of him.
He's the one that pays the rent, pays the mortgage, et cetera.
And I wanted to talk to you about how to correct all this and find meaning and purpose in my life.
