I REALLY enjoyed so much of this show. I have to admit the finale wasn't quite up to the same level for me, however. Maybe a season 2 will help that feeling?
And before I go any further, I of course always want to say that I do not know DC lore or DC characters as strongly as I do my, um, my Marvel characters, right? So, I'm, I'll probably use some analogies from Marvel where I feel it's appropriate, um, and I think I will sort of try and go more off the kind of the characters that you saw on the show rather than trying to link it back to comic accuracy.
But for me, I really enjoyed this kind of portrayal of how, um, how the lanterns work in, in a way.
I, again, I don't know how true it is to the comics, but I, I, I like the idea that there's this one person who looks after this sector and, like, he's very protective of it.
It, it was very much like, "This is my beat.
You, you, you can't take it from me." And I liked the way that, uh, relationship obviously formed throughout the show.
And then obviously even though it wasn't the Hal, seeing the hologram Hal later in the show kind of, um, become a lot more, um, of a comrade to John was really, really warming.
It, it was a, it was a really cool process to see happen and to know that almost at one point or in one potential future that didn't happen or could happen or, or, you know, et cetera, um, Hal and John would've actually been probably good friends and actually get on very well.
And obviously that is, as, as I understand it, probably not dis- not dissimilar, not incorrect from the comic perspective.
Obviously there's been multiple Green Lanterns and, and, and sort of, like, whether that kind of fits into that, I, I don't know.
But I, I, I have to imagine that they've both had the m- the moniker, so they probably have interacted at some point i- in the comics, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was sort of, like, the kind of relationship they had.
Obviously maybe not as sort of antagonistic in the off sta- the start off, but, um, yeah.
That's, uh, again, obviously I'm just, I'm just assuming.
Um, but yeah, really enjoyed the idea, the general overarching idea of the show.
And, and despite the fact it stays on Earth for a long time, and I understand the people who wanted the whimsy of, of Green Lantern in the comics, knowing that that is sort of...
Knowing that it's a little bit more like Buzz Lightyear, Star Command kind of stuff, and, like, that, that's not quite there in this.
Because Peacemaker was, had somewhat whimsy, um, Creature Commandos has all these different kind of, you know, um, creatures, like, well, creatures.
Um, yeah.
And Supergirl, whilst dealing with some more, um, I wouldn't want to say hard-hitting topics, but, you know, wasn't as, like, um, wasn't as, uh, light and airy.
Still had that kind of fantastical element, being out in space and stuff.
So I understand they didn't want to put another character out in space doing loads of space stuff.
They wanted a little bit more of a, let's set up how the Earth views superheroes in a way, I guess.
Um, and then as well as that, of course, the fact that you have this sort of feeling of, how do I put it, that we're kind of trying to give the DCU more genre scope.
