You have legends of the game of Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight walking away from the international scene after, gosh, what? 17 years service for, for English cricket.
Deserves the journalists and, and the fans to soak in everything that, that, that whole week for the, for the women, um, is about, and for the, for the two women walking away from the game.
And then to go to Lord's, Richard Gould, the CEO, to go to Lord's and get all the journalists together and interview about sacking Brendan McCullum.
It might be tomorrow at lunch, so why not just do it tomorrow night or Tuesday morning? They might not wanna do it on a day of a game.
You know, a- and I was very, uh, not, not flat with the timing, but it just feels like, has anyone even thought about this? Has anyone actually sat in a room and gone, "Not sure that's great timing, lads"?
Yeah, there was a lot of anger actually in the press box, especially from, um, from, like, former England players, England women's players just saying, "Why exactly that? Why now? Why would you choose to do it at 2:00 just before Tammy Beaumont walks out to have her last ever innings for England?" And then the same with Heather Knight.
Yeah, there was a lot of bemusement with the timing of it, and the language inside the statement as well, because the headline was, "Brendan McCullum stands down as England men's test head coach." And then it goes on to say, "We had to make the decision, and now was the right time." And Brendan McCullum saying, "I, I wanted to continue.
Um, I'm gutted that, um, that I'm not, but I'll take it graciously." Um, was the, was the-
