But his evolution as a player from when I saw him in 2020 to what he is now, I mean, he is, as Steven Finn said before, he is probably the best all format batter in the world.

There's no one else that is guaranteed all three formats, that can score hundreds in all three formats, is that consistent across all three formats.

So, um, all credit to him and, and hopefully he keeps learning and keep getting better because I think the thing that I like the most about him is he's been given a lot of responsibility as well.

But when compared to the countries they were facing in that time, the out and out quicks of other countries in this 70-year period were far more consistently produced.

In the same breath, England, particularly in the post-covered pitches era, have rarely produced spinning wickets, meaning that English spin bowlers have favored control and subtle variation rather than the great mystery spinners or great turners of the cricket ball that have defined the modern spin bowling era.
