Pedro Naveiras on Public Safety, East Bakersfield & the Ward 3 Race

Yeah, so I've lived in East Bakersfield pretty much my entire life.

I joke that I've lived east of the 99 my entire life.

First grew up in southeast Bakersfield.

When I was in high school, we moved to northeast Bakersfield where we live now.

When my now wife, then girlfriend, or fiance were looking at places to live, we wanted to stay in east Bakersfield because it was home.

It was close to where our families were at.

We've got a lot of friends out here and it's just kind of our whole world is out here in Bakersfield and we wanted to stay here.

We now have two beautiful children, and my wife is expecting our third.

We're having a little girl in March, and we're very excited.

But it's, again, just this is our home, and we wanted to stay here and raise our kids here.

So that's kind of the Bakersfield I grew up in.

I went to school at McKee Middle.

I graduated from Golden Valley High School before I went to Cal State Bakersfield for university.

And I've been in Bakersfield my entire life, with the exception of law school.

And I've been grateful to be here the whole time.

And I am, as you said, grateful to be here with you, Florida, today on your show.

And I am running for city council.

I'm looking forward to talking to your audience and voters of Ward 3 about that.

Thank you so much.

You went to CSUB and then you left for law school.

I'm always curious, you know, what brought you back to Bakersfield?

Yeah, so I was always going to come back.

I had every intention.

So when I was in college at Cal State Bakersfield, I actually interned for the district attorney's office here in Kern County.

for a little bit.
