And And there's this person who basically is following him around, this young enslaved woman, and is speaking out and shouting things as he's going around.
Do you get that from the story? So verse 16 tells us Paul and Silas were on their way to the place of prayer when they were met by this woman.
And in the original Greek, that language, it's very clear that it's an evil spirit by which she's telling the future.
And she follows them around for what seems like a couple of days, shouting, That these men are servants of the most high God who are telling you the way to be saved.
As people have thought on this and chewed on this and theologians have thought over this, what's going on here? There's a sense that the reason that she's doing it or this evil spirit's causing her to do it is she's trying to lay claim to what they're doing, almost by saying if she gets the first word in, it's going to look like they're kind of working for her.
You know, they're like they're doing this thing, you know, and it's like it's on me.
And like evil is trying to get in the way of good being proclaimed in this place.
That he turned around and said to the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to come out of her.
You ever become so annoyed that you turn around and did something about it? In our house, we have an Alexa speaker, and I have three children who really like the Alexa speaker.
At least three seconds of a song will go before the next one says, Alexa, play this.
