Can new regulations finally fix the broken token market? This week, we debate whether the SEC’s new crypto framework meaningfully changes token design, capital formation, and investor protections…
Rob HadickHostMaybe there's actually a lot of topics for a late August podcast, but the first big one is probably SEC and Regulation Project Crypto.
What is the sense? Because I saw the people I was texting with who were at SALT, said, look, there's actually still a decent bit of optimism around clarity right now.
And so I think you, on one of the last podcasts, said there's absolutely no way we're getting clarity.
But clarity specifically, before we get into the SEC, what is your feeling coming out of this week?

well i i don't think i said there's absolutely no way uh so i i am i wouldn't speak in such absolutes but i i i do yeah i do think that the um you know you can look at the poly market today right and it's you know 20 or 18 something like that right um i i There is actually a broader range of things that I am hearing from people than I have in a while.

Some of the people close to the government are still telling me, hey, we think it's a coin flip.

And the people who have been in the administration, in Congress, have been working on this for many, many months.

And also among the companies who have been spending a lot of time on this and their government agency arms, the Andreasons of the world, the Coinbases, Ripple is very involved.

and so that's awesome and so you know we we continue and i've been continuing to figure out ways of which i can also be helpful uh on that side um but you know i think among people who are you know maybe less close to what's happening happening in in government but are maybe you know um uh kind of seeing what's what's happening uh on the ground from you know a lot of the way that the posturing and the positioning is happening on the day-to-day at the companies Um, there's an expectation that it's, it's, the chances are pretty low.

So, you know, we'll see, like, I think we'll definitely get a vote in September, but I also thought we would get a vote before the recess and it didn't happen.

So listen, I remain, um, you know, hopeful, but, uh, you know, I'm, I'm not positioning as if like, this is definitely going to happen.

That said, I think the market has positioned itself as such that this is not going to happen.
