I think one key principle that HR professionals need to remember when going into such meetings is that this could be something that's routine for you.
So it's very important for you to bear that in mind and to treat the person with respect and dignity.
So for one, maybe have enough time to talk to the person, to let them understand why their role is being made redundant.
And with that being said, maybe it's also good for you to have a face-to-face meeting instead of just a online meeting, and also involve the person's reporting officer, because that's the person who is going to know intimately about the person's contributions to the organization.
I think it's also a good time for you to set aside time to acknowledge what are the contributions that this person has made to the organization, and not just to say that, you know, "Your role is redundant, we don't need you anymore."
But to identify that the number of years that you have been here, the projects that you have done, they made a significant impact to what we do at the organization.
