do you ever think about when Gene Roddenberry pitched Star Trek as wagon train to the stars and called space the final frontier? Right.
That he was like, listen,
everyone's going to wear mini skirts there.
If you're a lady later on in the 80s, also guys.
I think that he was really trying to make a point about space, about America, about the settling of the unsettled West, about the drive, manifest destiny, but a gentler version.
I think that, listen, far be it for me to criticize Star Trek, which is a beloved franchise.
What if
I'm just saying that maybe Star Trek did a little bit to sort of like whitewash the settling of the frontier, the whole colonialist enterprise.
Again, far be it from me to cast aspersions, but I'm just saying something to think about.
