Family relationships can be complicated! So how do we navigate changing family roles, competing expectations, boundaries, and communication while protecting the relationships that matter most? In…
Stacy ReaochGuestHeather MacFadyenHostThe reason Stacey's on the show is my husband forced me to clean out his office with him.
And I'm so glad he did because one of you listeners reached out after my episode with Dr. Jim Burns and also the Boundaries episode we republished saying, could you do more episodes on the mother-in-law, daughter-in-law relationship? And I saw that and I was like, I feel like, I mean, it's kind of a niche conversation.
I'm cleaning out the office and wouldn't you know, there's a book that I had received.
It's called Making Room for Her, Biblical Wisdom for a Healthier Relationship.
And okay, this is where I kind of want you to tell part of your story, the hard part of your story, because you co-wrote this book with your mother-in-law.
And I reached out to you and I said, could you and your mother-in-law come on the show?

Yeah, and actually, very sadly, my mother-in-law, Barbara, passed away two years ago, almost exactly two years ago, from ovarian cancer.

So it was kind of a quick thing, and she was a very healthy person, so it came as quite a surprise.

But it makes this book, I feel like, even more special that we did it, and it was not an easy book to write.

But I'm so grateful that we did it because we kind of have our story captured and hopefully it will be very helpful for others.
They're like, oh my gosh, you wrote a book with your mother-in-law? I can really have a conversation with my mother-in-law.
