So there's a report that came out today that said Austin Jackson and Zach Sealer could be on a trading block and if that sounds familiar to you, it should because it was reported right here on Dolphins Daily last week.
This just made sense to me for a number of reasons, right? The team is obviously not going in the direction we may want to go in and Zach hasn't performed up to where he wants to be and he's still valuable to a lot of teams.
Obviously, Austin Jackson being a right tackle in the last year of his contract, it makes sense.
Now Jurgens got moved to guard, so they were, were-- they're gonna move him back to center, whatever.
But as a guard, a second and a fifth rounder is like, okay, and I haven't heard a lot of pushback on that conversation as of now, me taping this.
Maybe over time they'll say that was too much, but what could you get for a starting right tackle? Now, Austin Jackson has not been playing well at all, but he has shown stints of playing well.
He may be still lingering injury right now or whatever, but what, what could you get for a starting right tackle? Fourth round? Third round? If a team is desperate enough, like, could you possibly get, like, a fifth or sixth next year and a future second for a starting right tackle? It's a good question.
For Zach Sealer, I think a third round, four-- third or fourth round pick for sure makes sense.
And if we're going in a direction where these guys, in Zach's case, he's a little bit older, like, is he part of the long-term future? Who knows? For Austin, we know he's not part of the long-term future.
We moved his money around to give us a little bit more room this year, and we didn't extend him for next year.
So as much as I wanna be like, "I told y'all, I saw it coming," this just kinda makes sense, right? It's not like a lot of [chuckles] uh, deductive reasoning is-- or it is only deductive reasoning.
It's like these people are older or in the last year of their deals, and if they were playing at a crazy high level...
I mentioned this with Chop yesterday, where Chop is still on his re- contract, so it's a little bit different because we can extend Chop for an extra year at not a crazy amount.
I mean, didn't the Cowboys trade for Quenton Williams last year and give up, was it a second and something else? And Quenton Williams is a really good player.
