The Warrior's Apprentice [Vorkosigan Saga, Book 3]

And we're back for book three.

We're definitely fiction, and we're reading through Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga, a wonderful series of books that I have read in its entirety, this series.

You have read some of the books, and then we started over so that we could read through them together and make a podcast about it.

For anyone tuning in, of course, I would recommend starting at the beginning of our series and starting with the first book that we talked about, which is Shards of Honor.

The Warrior's Apprentice takes place after Bariar, the most recent book that we covered, even though Bariar was actually written... significantly later than the warrior's apprentice

and this was if we were reading like in the 80s we would have read this book before barry are possibly just before any of these books which

would be kind of a strange experience we can get into it a little bit i guess like imagining that but it's definitely i don't know bujold talks about how it should stand alone i do think some things in this book would be a little confusing if you read this book first

Yeah, I mean, I think that you, I don't know, I think this is a really fun adventure.

I think you don't need to know anything about Aral and Cordelia.

You definitely don't really have to have Bothari's backstory.

They kind of tell you a lot of it in this book.

And there's this big moment with him that is important to know.

I don't know.

I feel like this would work on its own.

If I was to hand this to somebody and say, read this, and if you like it, keep going, I think Bariar would be better for that.

Yes.

I mean, I think it stands on its own.

It's actually the stuff with Bothari in particular, where I feel like if you don't know what any of that is, it would be kind of out of left field.

You'd be like, wait a minute.

Oh, I guess I'm reading the third book in

this series.

But

anyways, we can get into that when we get into the plot summary.

I think for now, let's just sort of give some broad impressions of this book.

Yeah, what did you think of it, Sam? Coming back to it, I guess this is your second time reading it.
