DawgNation Daily -- the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans Beginning of the show: I discuss why Kirby Smart wants the Georgia offense to be "dangerous" against Alabama and attempt to define what…
Terrence EdwardsGuestThere is one thing, if you've heard anybody talking about Georgia and Alabama this week, that almost everybody has said.
So what do you say we start there just for a second, given the fact that we were on this topic pretty hot and heavy yesterday.
Seems like the overall system that's moving through, now, it could be very serious for Alabama, and we're obviously respectful of that, especially for those down near the 'Bama, Mississippi coast, on into the Florida Panhandle.
But in terms of the actual impact on the game, by the time we get to Saturday night, maybe things are expected to be okay with that.
Not perfect conditions certainly, but not as bad as it could be, and maybe not bad enough that it requires any kinda change to the game.
Alabama did announce yesterday that for now the game is still on as planned at the time it was planned.
It was also interesting this week to hear from Kirby Smart a couple times on ESPN, including earlier this week with Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter.
And Kirby, while talking about all of this, did acknowledge that there were some other considerations of maybe how to handle this game beyond just playing it on Saturday night, and it essentially confirms what we said yesterday, that there was maybe something they were looking at, a couple of things they were not looking at, but maybe now it's just not necessary at all.
This is Kirby Smart on with SVP, kind of the latest from the Georgia perspective on how all of this goes down with the weather.
The, the great variable here, which no one's in charge of except God, and that's the weather, and obviously everyone's talking about the possibility of a, of a big, giant storm.
What do you understand to be on the table with the uncertainty about that that, that we're gonna monitor in the coming days? Is there any, any variables that, that you're monitoring as, as far as where and when and what?
I'm letting the operations staff manage that.
They're keeping me up to date.
I, I don't need any distractions trying to play this team, so, uh, I've been focused on the task at hand.
As far as I've heard, you know, there were some options of, uh, different kick times on, uh, Saturday as they looked at the different weather models, but, um, it sounds like the storm's moving, uh, fast and rapidly, and it could be out, um, before kickoff.
What Kirby says there about the forecast does seem to match what I think I know about this too.
It's also interesting, you know, we said yesterday that based on what I was hearing, there was no consideration to play this game somewhere other than Tuscaloosa.
There was the fake Facebook rumor about Mercedes-Benz Stadium or something like that.
