DawgNation Daily -- the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans Beginning of the show: I discuss a funny back-and-forth between Georgia and Florida fans over something Gators coach Jon Sumrall said…
Davin BellamyGuest
Mike GriffithGuestWhat a cool thing it was yesterday to see Georgia fans, Florida fans going back and forth on social media, and what that turned into over apparently John Sumrall really wants to be Kirby Smart.
And boy, he wants to conjure up the same emotions for his program that Kirby Smart has been able to do for Georgia.
Now, in a couple of moments, the punchline here is what you think you already know, if you were a part of this on social media yesterday, the actual truth is even worse than you realize, and we'll give that to you here coming up.
So Sumrall, the Florida coach, goes and does an interview on the podcast that the former Gator coach, uh, Urban Meyer is a part of.
And boy, Sumrall and his deep voice and his football guy veneer, and he just really wants to look the part and talk about how big it is to be a, uh, coach of the Florida Gators and how excited they all are.
Uh, and so he's on there with Urban Meyer on the podcast, and he said something that I certainly couldn't help but notice.
Boy, it sounds a lot like he's trying to be Kirby Smart on this, with one phrase in particular that seemed to stand out to a lot of people.
So before we get too deep into this, let me just let you hear the original clip from Sumrall talking about the situation.
Uh, this is John Sumrall with a phrase that kinda got some attention from some of the people.
The coaches' time to shine is Sunday through Friday.
You know, Saturday's the players' day to go play, and tomorrow is my game day, not theirs.
And I told our team after our run-through this morning, like, "Hey, tomorrow is Bloody Tuesday." Like, and I'm gonna know if we're ready to play this week by how we practice tomorrow.
We got a great indoor in here.
On Tuesdays, we don't use the damn indoor.
Like, I don't want anybody going in the indoor on Tuesday.
We're gonna be outside.
We're go- I hope it's hot.
Tuesdays have to be physical a- and violent, and you gotta strain, or you don't know how to play that way on Saturday.
