Speak Good Words

And in the midst of Jeremiah's life, if you know Jeremiah, just give me a wave, just so I can kind of give us a...

Right, so Jeremiah lives in the Old Testament.

He's a guy who God's, from the very beginning of his life, really, he talks about the word of God, God's heart burning in his bones.

He just kind of, he has this instinct and this yearning for good and for truth.

And he's called by God to be a prophet at a time when Israel as a nation is becoming really unfaithful to God.

It's going all over the place.

Fascinatingly, there's an extended drought and all the grass and all the plants are dying, which caught my attention because I was reading it when we were in drought.

Uh, and, uh, he also is a guy who tells his people, look, you've got to give up hope.

We're going to, we're going to go to Babylon.

We're going to be taken away.

And everyone's like, shut up.

Like you need to speak hope.

And he's like, I can't, this is what our hope is.

We're going to go to Babylon.

So he's super unpopular.

And so Jeremiah is often known as the wailing prophets.

Can you say the wailing prophets? Yeah.

Because so much of what he prophesies and speaks actually is like...

It's wailing.

And so we get to chapter 15 of Jeremiah.

And this is the low point of this guy's life.

He's reached breaking point.

He's fed up.

He's lonely.

And he moans.
