Is your marriage focused on temporary happiness or eternal purpose? In this powerful episode of the Covenant Army Marriage Podcast, Brent and Lucy challenge Christian couples to shift their…
Well, the question that came up was, are couples that are married, are they living in their marriage thinking about eternity? In essence, are you eternity-minded in your marriage? Like, how much time do couples spend griping about the things of this world, fighting each other in disagreement? Because how much time truly, I guess why it really struck me, How much time do we really have left?
Well, I think that goes to that sense of urgency.
Yes.
And I know we've been here many, many centuries.
Yes.
We've heard that.
I mean, you hear it all the time.
And there's been the preachers on the corners doing their part, you know, proclaiming the gospel, calling people to repent and having, you know, just awaken people.
You know, people who are asleep, not recognizing where we're at and what we're facing.
And I think sometimes because we hear that message so much, we can turn a deaf ear to it and really not pay attention.
But the truth of the matter is, like, eternity's right around the corner.
I mean, it can literally happen tonight.
We don't know when it's going to happen.
But recognizing that truth, that it could happen at any moment, why aren't we more focused on the... how can I put it? Just the expectation and the urgency and the importance of the time that we're in right now.
I mean, think about it.
If Jesus could come back right now, are we ready? Like, are we ready individually and as a couple?
I'm going to tell you, when we ask, I know when I've posed that question to other women, like when I've sat in individual sessions with other women and I pose that question, like, are you ready? Are you ready to give an account of for what God has given you in your marriage.
And a lot of them usually stop.
They don't respond right away.
They're kind of just, they think on it for a second.
And not one has said yes to me.
Not one has said, yes, I'm ready.
They always hesitate, like almost like there's something else to be done.
