The FULL Battlestar Galactica Experience: Lowest (109 - “The Young Lords”)

I'm going to pick a few notes.

This episode tried to be fantasy too, huh? I say when the unicorns first arrive.

The story is slow, but I don't hate it.

Shirtless Dirk Benedict seems to have been one of the main selling points.

Oh no, a song.

I take it back.

I think I hate it now.

I was giving it the benefit of the doubt early on.

I was like, okay, it's ridiculously silly that they're trying to take what is the merging of Star Wars and Star Trek, right? It's the aesthetic and the roaming universe of Star Wars, but with the naval, ship-oriented, command-oriented storytelling device of Star Trek.

It's the best of both possible worlds by some accounts.

And then they're like, but we're also going to shove in a little Robert Jordan in here.

We're going to do a little T.H. White while we're at it.

And I was like, you know what? That's weird, but I'm kind of into this.

I kind of like the backwater Cylon unit that's buttering up Baltar and Baltar following it.

And then, man, they got to the song and the chant that described how they got into the castle.

I was like, no, this is just bad.

And I was never surprised by anything that happened.

How about you? This is

far and away the schlockiest episode of Battlestar Galactica 1978 that we've seen, that I've seen.

I didn't know it got this schlocky.

And I found myself utterly hypnotized and delighted.

Like, here's the problem.

I suspect it's the lowest rated because it's the least credible.

It's the least polished.
