So we're going to do a very, very, very quick, very brief rundown of the various waves of feminism, just so you guys know what this timeline was like, what the movement was like, blah, blah, blah.

So first wave feminism was basically aligned with women's suffrage.

So

that was the time period that we're talking about.

And almost... entirely the focus was just on women earning the right to vote, earning the right to participate in government.

There was a lot of other things about it.

Women wanted, you know, rights and privileges and equality.

That was a huge fight to get the vote.

Yes.

Just, you know, just basically being allowed to participate in the government that rules us was a massive fight.

population and 0% of the government power

yeah um so second wave feminism is where we get into with this history story and that started in the 1960s and was very well um was very linked to the civil rights movement at that time so it became a movement focusing on how there were still so many legal rights that women did not have

yeah

even though women could vote even though women could work um

Couldn't have bank accounts.

Yeah, there were a lot of states where you couldn't have bank accounts, a lot of banks that restricted women from having bank accounts.

The government and institutions were still dominated by male senators and CEOs and I know it hasn't changed that much today, but we'll get into that.

But even, you know, we make fun of like in the West, we make fun of Saudi Arabia for the fact that like women can't drive on their own or any of that stuff.

That's basically how it was in like 1970.

So people who are like 60 or 70 years old were 10 or 20 growing up in a time where they couldn't have a bank account on their own.

They needed an older male relative to be there or a husband.
