But let's get right to the tragic loss of a Kentucky State Police trooper, Aiden Phillips, a husband and father who joined KSP in 2023.

He was shot and killed while patrolling in the Bowling Green area along the interstate Monday.

There's been an outpouring of support for Phillips, who was from the Glasgow area, at least that's where he began his law enforcement career.

And so, uh, once again, Derek, always a tragedy when someone in law enforcement pays the, uh, the ultimate price.

Amani Branch, uh, was before a grand jury in Warren County yesterday, and he was indicted on three counts.

Uh, firstly, the, the murder of a first responder, possession of a gun by a felon and, and tampering with evidence.

He's gonna be remanded to Ten- to Tennessee for, uh, for another outstanding charge that he was wanted on when he was pulled over for an expired tag by Phillips.

Uh, Keely, uh, LMPD says they used FLOK technology and something called a Grappler to, uh, stop the vehicle.
So obviously this began in Bowling Green, and then, uh, Amani Branch made his way up to Louisville.
Um, he was stopped by LMPD with, uh, the Grappler, which is this bumper they put on the front of police cars that has almost like a net underneath that they can get under one of the tires of the car in front of them.
They were also able to track him with FLOK cameras, which have come under a lot of heat, uh, due to, uh, private safety concerns and personal privacy, but LMPD says this is a way that they are used exactly as they're, how they're supposed to be, to find com- chem- uh, criminals and catch them and track them.
We've obviously seen an outpouring of support for them, um, from everyone from top lawmakers and officials, Andy Beshear, uh, to just, you know, everyday Kentuckians who are sending that family so many love and prayers.
