Civil Politics (8/21/26): Florida Loves Measles

happening? Well, I was amused.

I don't know if you guys had a chance to look at the article.

I came across the Miami Herald article.

I came straight from work today.

My first job of the day, not my second job, which I never got to.

I did actually

see that.

So I was just terribly amused because, um, um, you know how like, uh, uh, the, uh, crazy MAGA people are like, you know, haven't met a conspiracy theory or, or, or a wild ass idea that they, they didn't like, you know? Um, and so one of the things they push are, uh, uh, They push for people to be able to just opt out of any kind of vaccination whatsoever, just a complete abrogation and denial of public health and whatnot.

And their basis for doing this is religious exemption.

Like, if it's as a matter of faith, you don't think God wants you to get a vaccination, then you shouldn't be forced to get a vaccination.

Well, Christian scientists believe that.

Sure.

I mean, that is their doctrine.

Right.

And Christian scientists... are not the heart of the MAGA movement or the Make America Healthy

movement.

There are many different faiths that have different tenets that might preclude getting any medical care, invasive medical procedure or injection.

That is a thing that's not just Christian scientists.

It's some like Orthodox Jews think that as well.

Oh, that's right.

And there are many different sects of Christianity.

There are many different faiths.

And it's

long been the law across the U.S.

And my Jehovah's Witnesses, you can't get a blood transfusion.
