The Faith and Patience of Elisha (2)

A life sustained this way does not stop producing fruit when strength fails or even when life itself ends.

What has genuinely been given to God outlives the vessel that carried it.

That stranger did nothing to earn his own resurrection.

He was simply providentially in the path of a grace deposited there.

Long before he had any need of it.

This is what a life fully yielded.

Across decades actually leaves behind.

Fruit that reaches people we never meet.

In moments we could never plan for.

Well after our own strength has finished.

It is also worth remembering the last words Joash spoke.

Over Elisha's dying face.

My father, my father, the chariot of Israel.

And the horsemen thereof.

The very words Elisha himself had once cried over Elijah's ascension decades earlier on the far bank of the same Jordan.

The boy who once watched his mentor taken up in fire had across a lifetime of faithful ministry become the very figure another generation now wept to lose.

This is what sustained watchful faithfulness across an entire lifetime actually produces today.

not merely a memory but a mantle of the same weight passed on to be treasured by those who come after it must be said plainly because scripture itself says it plainly Elisha a man who raised the dead and carried a double portion of the spirit still fell sick of the illness of which he died second Kings chapter 13 verse 14 now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness Whereof he died.
