Richard Chew is joined by Curtis Hertel, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. The discussion focused on Michigan Democratic campaign strategy, voter outreach, young voters, bipartisanship, and rebuilding the party’s identity. Here are a few **key points** from the conversation: \- Hertel described field operations across Michigan, including 80 organizers on the ground, 25 offices, and a goal of knocking on 1.4 million doors before Election Day. \- He emphasized direct voter contact, including outreach in heavily Republican areas, as more effective than relying primarily on advertising or billionaire spending. \- He said Democrats should focus on working-family concerns such as health care, housing, child care, tariffs, wages, and economic inequality. \- Hertel said some Republican voters may be open to Democrats after unmet GOP promises and should be approached respectfully rather than blamed. \- He identified young voters as an important constituency, citing economic challenges around homeownership, transportation, and starting families. \- He supported bipartisanship when Republicans’ actions match their stated positions, but questioned the reliability of Republicans who criticize Donald Trump while voting with him. **Catch "Chew's Views with Richard Chew” weekdays from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. Central on WCPT (**heartlandsignal.com/programs/chews-views**).** **Follow us:** Website: https://heartlandsignal.com WCPT Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WCPT820 Heartland Signal Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HeartlandSignal Tiktok:https://www.tiktok.com/@heartlandsignal?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pchttps://www.tiktok.com/@heartlandsignal Heartland Signal X: https://x.com/HeartlandSignal WCPT 820 X: https://x.com/WCPT820 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heartlandsignal Threads: threads.com/@heartlandsignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@heartlandsignal See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
