I want us to talk a little bit about our relationship with the community and the local community.

And I'm going to ask a two-part question so we can figure out how we want to answer this next question together.

The first part is, how can churches and community development practitioners move beyond one-time service projects towards relationships built on trust and mutuality? Suzanne, you mentioned a little bit about this and our work together with the Cancer Center.

Do you want to talk a little bit more about what that has meant or maybe something that you didn't have the chance to mention earlier?

One thing that I can say is the partnership with Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center has been awesome.

At the time of the Truth Project, they were under the leadership of Dr. Robert Wynn.

And he came out to our very first meeting with the lead project investigator, Dr. Catherine Tosis.

And to me, that spoke volumes because here's this busy, huge cancer director coming out, a 45-minute drive, out to meet us where we were at in our own space and caring enough about the research to take a lot of time to be able to do that.

You know, oh, yeah, we gave the Native Americans some information and just drop it and leave.

And that very first time he came out, he told us, he said, you know, this is bigger than the Truth Project, right? We're not going to just stop with this.

Even with his exit in June to a new cancer center, Dr. Baskin has stepped in and continued the relationship.

She didn't come out saying, well, we feel like this is what you need, so we're going to give you this.

She wanted to know what were the things that concerned us the most, how to protect our culture during the research.
