And we talked about how you should never judge an author or his book without first aiming to understand it.

How can you judge something without any understanding of it? It's pretty harsh to offer some criticism when really maybe you're just sitting in a place of ignorance.

And it's easier to say, oh, that doesn't make sense when you don't understand it.

But it's a lot harder to actually engage in the conversation, isn't it? Too often that we allow our emotions and negative life experiences and voices around us to shape our perception of who God is.

And if we misjudge the character of God, then we will absolutely misjudge his book and we'll make the wrong conclusion about its relevancy to our lives.

You know, if reading a book is about the meeting of minds between the author and the reader, and if reading is meant to feel conversational with the author, then we need to now ask ourselves, how do we talk to the ultimate author of the Bible? Who is God? So treat yourself with another cuppa, get your Bible, and let's dive in.
