So we will start with the NPL men's grand final Lions SC taking on Peninsula Power first against second to conclude grand final day.

A goal from substitute Fred Oyet making the difference in the 93rd minute being the only goal.

of the game we'll go through it in detail but this was a once again terrific contest between these two great clubs and it was a physical game it was a game where both sides had a lot of opportunities and like seems to be the way this season Lions just found a way to get over the line once again
It's a trade of a champion to quality team that just find a way that they looked out on their feet, that cramping, um, potential power.
They really served up to me.
They, they, they, they pretty much did control a lot of the game that they, that they limited lines opportunity in the first sort of, you know, 75, 80 minutes of the game or create a couple of chances of rare and.
But it was, again, one moment of brilliance from a very unexpected source as well.
That would then be the difference.
It's one of those things where, you know, where they find a way, it's just one of those intangible qualities that this current squad for Lions do have.
And it would be so frustrating and to the point of shattering for for for potential power i really do feel for for that squad that staff and and even a lot a lot of the supporters as well because it's almost like what the hell do we have to do to beat this mob

And in fairness, they're not the only team in Queensland trying to figure out the answers to that.

And even a couple of A-League teams weren't able to find that answer over the course of the year either.

But to your point, Lionel Jesse, the first two thirds of the year, it was in the sense of the front third, it was the Alex Vecna show in terms of he was scoring the majority of the goals.

But since he's gone down with injury, unfortunately, well, that would be a part of last night's game.

And Fred Hoyt popping up in the last minute, he probably was not a player we were all thinking would be the decisive difference maker in these games.

But sometimes it is the unheralded players who do make the big difference on grand final day.
And I think that is the biggest compliment you can talk about with Dan Barber and his staff and the way they set up and the players that buy in to what he is trying to preach as the head coach is that it is the system first.
It was all well and good.
Alex Fechter scoring 32 of the first 39 goals, whatever it was, that Lions scored in league season.
