Peninsula Power FC

There were some surprises in the mid table and the top of the table.

It was a fantastic battle between two of the biggest clubs here in Brisbane, Lions SC and Peninsula Power, battling it out right to the end.

It ultimately was Lions who ended up winning the all of the trophies over the course of the year, and I guess they are the story of the year in terms of that, but it was a fantastic season.

Without a doubt, the story of the year is the Lions quadruple.

Max Mikkola, Austin Lubick, Marquez Walton, last year's Saita Mariah, also winner of our NPL men's player of the year.

In terms of teams of the year, I once again, I'll lead off with James's as well.

For that in goal, he had Jordan Turtel from Peninsula Power.

He has gone with a back five or a 3-4-3, I think is his official formation here.

And sadly, they did go out too.

But Adam, like you'd have to say, with my club, Peninsula Power too, it was a very, very difficult draw going to Warpia and trying to advance through on opening night.

Yeah, I think potential power is a little bit snakebitten as far as the draws that have been copying because, again, I do firmly believe that if the ball's dropped a different way and is potential power hosting... hosting up here that I reckon that the Peninsular Power probably are a bad chance of winning that game.

I just think, again, in the early rounds against member federation clubs, in most cases where they're fairly even, it's home field advantage that is very primary.

Lions.

[laughs] Oi, the Lions, uh, beat the Peninsula Power, I think in the last minute to win-

Three on the trot

...

We will go through these four games in reverse chronological order.

So we will start with the NPL men's grand final Lions SC taking on Peninsula Power first against second to conclude grand final day.

And it was a 1-0 win for Lions SC.

A goal from substitute Fred Oyet making the difference in the 93rd minute being the only goal.

Patrick Satoro keeping one as well in the final game of the regular season.

So the clean sheet, it's a very good point that you do make.

And Peninsula Power had a lot of opportunities in this game, didn't they? This is where, for their perspective, it's going to be a very difficult one for them to take because they were well and truly in this game.

They had a lot of opportunities.

Games that are relevant to next weekend's, uh, semifinals.

South Melbourne, they're playing, uh, in a s- preliminary final of the NPL Victoria on Friday night against Oakleigh, and then Lions FC, they play their NPL Queensland grand final on Saturday afternoon against the Peninsula Power as well.

And it's a, it is a quick turnaround 'cause that game's only on the Tuesday as well, Jacob.

So they have to balance what is a monumental opportunity for these clubs, uh, going into the semifinal of the Australia Cup, but they've got their own domestic seasons to think about as well.
