Hello, and welcome to Breast Cancer Conversations, a podcast brought to you by survivingbreastcancer.org. I'm Laura Karfing, breast cancer survivor and founder of survivingbreastcancer.org, a nonprofit organization providing community, education, and resources to empower those diagnosed with breast cancer and their caregivers from day one and beyond.

All right, everyone, welcome to another conversation with Breast Cancer Conversations.

If you're tuning into the podcast, to our webinar series, and if you are a member and listener and participant of survivingbreastcancer.org, I am really excited about tonight's conversation because every single day, unfortunately, people show up in my inbox saying, I just got diagnosed with breast cancer.

And The plethora of questions that overwhelm the new vocabulary, understanding like, oh gosh, I'm meeting with all of these doctors.

Who do I meet with first? What questions do I have to prepare? What do I need to know? It is overwhelming to say the least.

Dr. Tiffany Truso-Sandoval is a board-certified medical oncologist with more than 25 years of experience caring for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and gynecological cancers.

Throughout her career, she has helped thousands of patients understand complex diagnoses, navigate treatment decisions, and communicate more effectively with their healthcare teams.

What do you tell the patients to kind of calm that chaos and calm that anxiety before we even get into the nitty gritty of understanding your pathology, understanding the treatment plan, like just the chaos, the moment? Because I think the reality is a lot of us find out about our diagnosis through the portal even before our doctors have had a chance to even review it.
