The first concept that I want to discuss with you is to make sure that your team is aligned on their goals and that the work that they are doing is pushing everyone in the same direction.
As a manager, if you can successfully build a chain from company strategy all the way down to individual goals, then you are aligning your staff with each other and giving them the best chance of success.
Now, if you are a senior manager, then this might be easier to do from where you are sat.
Equally, if you're in a very flat organization, which is maybe more common in tech startups or Nordic countries.
Over in Scandinavia, Nordic countries, those flat org charts are definitely more common.
So it might be easier over there.
But one way that we can do this is to explain the context of each goal.
The more your team understands the reasons and the context for their goals, the more goal-focused their decisions will be.
And if everyone is pushing towards the objectives and the vision for the wider company, then we're going to be more goal-focused and push in the same direction.
