Germie Bernard's elevation; Jaylen Warren emerges; pass rush problems--The Friday Fotball Show with Mike DeCourcy

Well, you led me right into my view from Mount Washington.

That's how we start every show.

Our 30,000-foot big picture view, the state of the Steelers heading into game day.

And I wanted to start right there with the point that you made.

Nip this road home thing in the bud.

Stop that narrative before it really grows legs.

You lost to New England.

Okay, they won the conference championship last year.

You lost in Cleveland.

Okay, you never win there.

[laughs]

If you lose at one-and-four Tampa with a backup set, a backup undrafted rookie quarterback in charge, then I'm gonna start believing that there's something to this you can't win away from home thing, which, you know, I, I don't know if it's because they've had enough pitfalls at home late in the Tomlin year or they've had enough big wins on the road throughout Tomlin's tenure that I never really thought of the road home split being all that huge of a dynamic.

Like, they never for a while lost at home on Monday night, right?

So, like, that was always a thing, and, uh, divisional games late, uh, in, in Akers Stadium/Heinz Field, you always felt more confident about that.

So there were some cozy things about playing at home.

They're usually very good on the road against Cincinnati, for instance.

Right.

Um, sometimes it didn't matter if you're home and away in the Baltimore rivalry.

So, like, there's just never been this sense to me that, okay, you chalk it up as you win six at home, you win two on the road.

Like, that sort of thing that a lot of other teams can do.

I've never really felt that way about the Steelers.

Generally better at home than the average Bear football team.

But, um, I, I will only believe that this home road thing for this year is a dynamic if they lose this game against-

Right
