In June 2026 we hosted a couple of Moorcock-flavoured RPG days a fortnight apart here in Bradford. For more on how that came about, see part one. A lot…
Welcome friends to part two of our Rolling in the Ruins special.
It's finally not infernally hot and my brain can actually brain.
I hope you're all managing to keep cool.
I'm taking full advantage of a lull in the heat dome bollocks to do some bits and pieces, but even contemplating a week of 32 degree heat here in the Bradford Hills is enough to slow me down, let alone the reality of it.
But a lull we have, for now, and I know some of you have it much worse.
For travellers stumbling across this with no context, in June 2026, we hosted a couple of Moorcock flavoured RPG days a fortnight apart here in Bradford.
For more on how that came about, check out the last episode.
A lot of our fellow rollers made a weekend of it and stuck around on the Sunday morning, allowing for the first time a more community based podcast experience in two parts.
This was a new experience for us, and for me particularly, because the vagaries and complications of recording with up to 15 or 16 people in a less than ideal environment definitely came into play.
Groaning chairs, a very hot room with USB fans keeping people alive, terrible reverb from that room that was at least half floor to ceiling windows overlooking Bradford City Hall.
A terrible, terrible place to record.
Brilliant for gaming, awful for recording audio.
So a lot to address for me in my amateurish fashion in post and editing.
Some lessons definitely learned for next time, though, and the second half, which we recorded a fortnight later, does sound significantly better.
But despite all of that and some scandalous errors on the part of the Quizmaster, there was also camaraderie, laughter, prizes and a live delivery of a blunt and blistering one star review.
So join me and Phil at the Ginger Goose as we tackle a lazily assembled quiz, trapped mugs, breakfast stout, and a couple of balmy, hungover Sunday mornings with the help of the last row of standing.
We are recording.
