But going as part of Chaosium and representing a brand and that sort of thing probably gives it a different kind of texture than if you just go in and can do whatever you wanted, basically.

You know, what is it about these things that, you know, thinking of them as entertainment now, Why do you think they have grown so quickly as a form of entertainment? Because we had Mike Mason on, we were speaking to him from Chaosium, and he said his first reaction to the idea of sitting and watching a video of people playing Call of Cthulhu or whatever was like watching paint dry.

But then when he started watching it and getting involved in it and stuff...

he sort of started to see the side of it.

This is like the narrative thread that goes in the side boxes, the sidebar text of Cults of Terror, a source book published by Chaosium in 1981. which provides RuneQuest Gamemasters with many detailed cults for the bad guys.

The titular Polis Longvale is a lunarized Orlanthi, a scribe adventurer of the Iripi-Ontor cult, which is sort of the lunar equivalent to Lancormai.

Polis was sent by his father to live with his cousins Halgrim and Oddi the Keen in the Bilini tribe.

If you want to explore Dorastore on your own and you don't want to pay collector's prices for Chaosium's RQ3 Dorastore book, I just looked up out of curiosity and he's got 16 Dorastore things on Johnstown right now.

Now, if you like science fiction and fantasy, you might be familiar with Larry DiTillio as a writer on cartoons like He-Man and She-Ra or, uh, the Transformers show Beast Wars, or as the story editor on Babylon 5, which was of course a show created by fellow She-Ra alum J. Michael Straczynski.

Now, at one point, apparently during a writer's strike, DiTillio did some writing for role-playing games, and he wrote various things for Flying Buffalo and Chaosium contributed to a lot of different things, but probably the most famous is Masks of Nyarlathotep, the Call of Cthulhu campaign, widely regarded as one of the best RPG campaigns.

I mean, indeed, it picked up an Origins Award.

You know, he just kinda decided to do some game writing, wrote Masks of Nyarlathotep, won an Origins Award, did a few other bits and bobs, and then when the strike ended, went back to Hollywood.

I think he had some kind of connection to the Bay Area because I believe I used to see him at DunderCon back in the day running Call of Cthulhu at least once or twice.

It was a long time ago, though, so maybe I'm wrong or I'm remembering something else.

But it would make sense, I mean, if he had some kind of connection to Chaosium because he was a local.

I don't know.
