Mermaids in RPGs with Jared

So how did you hack Torchbearer to have a mermaid?

For this game, or for my mermaids that I wrote up for Torchbearer?

We'll do both, but start with one of them.

Well, one, I knew I needed mermaids.

I mean, they're on a trip, so they need to be hungry, tired.

They need to get sick.

Everything that can happen to you on a trip has to be able to happen to them.

And I was like, well, Torchbearer and Mouseguard kind of solved that idea with the conditions.

So I'm just going to take those.

And there is no injured condition.

There's hurt.

But there's tired.

There's hungry.

There's angry.

There's hurt.

There's sick.

And there's thirsty.

Because to a mermaid, water is not just something you drink, it's something you live in.

And if a mermaid gets thirsty, she can't sing.

Ooh, that's a rough one.

Yeah, yeah, it's not great.

They all reduce.

Each of them reduces one of the merits that mermaids have.

So thirsty reduces beauty.

Tired reduces grace.
