We're back from self-imposed summer exile to finally review a movie that everyone should see, Is God Is (2026) written and directed by Aleshea Harris. Adapted from Harris' stage play of the same name…
Quiet on set.
Places, everybody.
And action.
Hi guys, you're listening to Black Girl Film Club, a podcast for two Black women to discuss movies.
I'm Ashley.
Brittany is not here today, but we have a special guest in the studio, friend of the show, Davilyn.
Say hi.
Hi everybody.
Yay.
I don't even know like what number.
You're like our most reoccurring guest.
I feel like I'm part of the family.
So this is an honor.
I feel really special.
I'm
glad that you're here.
Happy to be here.
I've been trying to get us to talk about this movie all summer.
It's been a difficult one, partially because it was like, not here and gone, but I think it was kind of a difficult, like a movie that was hard to find at the time, which is unfortunate.
But yeah, we're here to talk about Is God Is from 2026, directed by Alicia Harris.
And This is going to be a really great time because I feel like this is the movie for us.
We're two Black women and revenge is, I feel like, a part of our lives, a DNA of our lives.
But how did you feel about this movie? How did you, like, I guess, like, what drew you to this movie?
