Digital Disaster: Phones Screens, and Protecting Their Hearts

Right.

Right? There are a lot of parents didn't grow up like me and you did-

Yeah

... you know, playing the video games and, and understanding that.

And one thing that we talk about with the phones is with the child, you know, I, I always tell people in my presentations that never get your child a phone as a gift.

Uh, because this is, this, this is a very, this is a piece that, of equipment that could be a portal to all the good things, and fun-

Mm

... and, and different things that people can use.

And then on the other hand, it could be a portal to hell.

Yeah.

Right? And there's a lot of bad things out there.

I love that.

And, and it's up to, it's up to our parents, uh, to, to, to monitor that.

Because, you know, one of the most common questions I get, they'll be like, "Hey, Aaron," 'cause I've been doing this for over 15 years, uh, longer than that really, where I've been going out and talking about online safety.

Sure.

Because we see the same things happen over, and over, and over, and crimes that's occurred in our own backyard, you know, that w- that parents don't even know about.

But one of the questions I get the most is, "Hey, Aaron, I want to know what app can I ...

I, I need a app that I c- I want to monitor their pictures, their text messaging, their internet activity.

I'll monitor everything.

Could you please?" And I always tell them, "I got a perfect app.

Are you ready? Write this down." And they'll, they'll get all ready, and they'll get ready.

And I'll say, "It's called being a parent."

Yes.

Right? [laughs]

Yes.
