Welcome to Behind the Spires! Join us in this Key City Conversation! In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Great Frederick Flood of 1976, we sit down with Donald Putman, a former Frederick Police…
And welcome back.
And Ed is immersed in the book of the Great Flood of 1976, but that was Donald Lee Putnam, who was an FPD officer on the day that the Great Flood came and helped everyone downtown.
So interesting to hear what he had to say.
Now, before we go any further, though, we want to point people back to something that Ricky had mentioned.
The Putnam Family Fund is held at the Community Foundation of Frederick County, and you can find it at frederickcountygives.org. Search the Putnam Family Fund.
Yeah.
If you want to see a range of what these funds actually do, you can go check them out.
Now, if this conversation made you want to go stand in places we were talking about, you have a very good weekend coming up for that.
Saturday, October 3rd, there are two events happening here in Frederick, and you can do both.
Starting at the airport, the Frederick Municipal Airport is hosting the fourth annual Frederick Festival of Flight.
It opens at 9 in the morning, and that's out at 310 Aviation Way.
It's an open house for the whole airport, aircraft on static display and in the air, RC plane demonstrations, aviation education sessions, food trucks and vendors, and a chance to meet the pilots and businesses based here in Frederick.
The entry? It's free.
And heads up, because we will be there.
Behind the Spires is recording live at the Festival of Flight.
So if you want to come say hello, come find us.
We would love to see you.
Yes.
Bring us a question.
Bring us a topic.
We are not above putting a stranger on the microphone.
That's right.
So get ready.
And then in the afternoon, head downtown because the Weinberg Center is opening its doors for the Centennial Kickoff.
And welcome back.
