Community foundation

Yeah.

And then we applied for a grant for that program through Community Foundation.

And luckily we got some funds.

Oh,

Um, and there's, you know, it's, it makes it even more difficult if that affordability questions there, because if it is, it's not going to just be for housing, you know, it's going to be because you can't get your prescriptions, you know, whatever, like it's, um, you know, and still dealing with questions like, uh, glasses and hearing aids, hearing aids.

question it's yeah it is hearing aids are they're they're really expensive um and you know when um because janine our housing navigator she was also at the same time managing a program a pilot program that we we had called seniors emergency pilot program um now we have stopped that program um for now because we are working something different in the background with community foundation okay But, you know, when we were running the seniors emergency pilot program, we saw, well, one of the major cost, one of the major need, one of the most important thing we actually noticed was housing.

Paying the damage deposit first, or hearing aids, or dentures, or glasses, or prescription, transportation, all of these things.

I understood that there was money.

I didn't really even know they were a community foundation.

And when I was told they were a community foundation, I was like, but what does that even mean? And I figured if I don't know, then maybe a lot of other people don't know.

And in my interview with these really wonderful board members who were very, very nervous to take a chance on me, the person with no name.

And

I said, I don't think that people know enough about the Community Foundation.

I've got my good friend, Christy Knauss, who is the president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.

And she is literally, I mean, through her career, she has a podcast called Legacy Leavers.

And between that and her career, she has rubbed Elbows learned, been mentored by some of absolutely some of the greatest leaders I think one could possibly hope for on a podcast.

I want you to, you know, we'll talk, first we'll go into the leadership realm.

We'll talk a little bit about that.

You are the president of the Des Moines greater, gotta make sure I've even got the community foundation for the greater Des Moines.

And that's no, we're going to get into that because for those of you that are listening out there, I don't think you have any idea what, what kind of money we're talking about here in what Christina organization do.
