In this episode of the **Art Stories Podcast**, hosted by Sky Lilah (@skylilah), we sit down with **Iqra Adam**, a Calgary-based mixed-media artist whose work explores the balance between joy, memory…

Well, if you talk about the medium, I think I'm still exploring a lot of new mediums.

Oil is one medium I'm not very much drawn to right now because I think you need a lot of expertise to go for the oil paintings.

Although I try to integrate that into my paintings, but I think that's not something...

So, um, in abstracts, if you go with the oil, uh, I'm not sure if I'll be able to go to that level so far, but right now I'm actually exploring towards, um, inks.

Um, I mean, from, from the very start, uh, I actually started with acrylics with the fluids and everything.

But, um, at that point, I think acrylics with the inks is something I'm exploring.

because um although we can introduce i mean i can introduce uh inks in there as well but i i really need the movements and i really want the movements to be there for for a longer period of time so when i do my monotones i actually try to um make different consistencies and i use water a lot of water actually in there just so that it uh helps me it actually helps me to move to let the paint move around and i can do all the textures and everything and then i leave it and then after like three four hours i come back to it and it's still not that dry so that gives me ample time to actually get more into it and dive more and then like um brainstorm my thoughts and get back to it and then do it again and like keep building on what i have at the start so That's why I just try to stick to acrylic so far.
