I must tell you, I woke up this morning with a completely different decision about what I would-- talking about.
Uh, what I would be talking about today, I thought was going to be the president and his screw-ups, and that's what they are, on Ukraine.
I want to begin with Ilhan Omar, a member of Congress with whom I heartily disagree on innumerable issues.
But have you heard the news? The President of the United States and his Justice Department have ordered an investigation into a sitting member of Congress from Minnesota.
I don't agree with Ilhan Omar on many of her policies, but the idea that the executive branch would order an investigation into a member of the legislative branch, well, it's absurd.
It is not the job of the executive branch to investigate, as we are seeing now.
It is the job of Congress to investigate itself, and one can only hope, and I believe that even the Republicans in Congress will condemn this abuse of power by the President of the United States and his Justice Department.
If, my friends, there were ever a moment in which Congress should stand up and just say no, if ever there were a time when a President of the United States should be investigated for corruption, this is the moment.
But for the President of the United States of America to order the Justice Department to take this kind of action is absurd and dangerous to American democracy.
No doubt we will be talking about this more, but there is not a single person listening to the sound of my voice, Democrat or Republican, who should not be outraged.
