Join Immi, Kitty and Lou for another conversation, this time with the brilliant Caris Rianne. From growing up with a love of film and the escapism it offered, while often feeling like she didn’t…
I guess I'm kind of like bringing it into present.
Is there a film you've recently seen that you kind of want to highlight that meant something to you, that inspired you, gave you some sort of feeling? Or is there something you want to highlight from, I mean, this will go live just before the festival kicks off or actually on the day that the festival does kick off.
So is there a film that you've jotted down for that, that you wanted to share with us?
I feel like recently I because I went away recently and um I went to like a lodge with no wi-fi so I took dvds or watch whatever's on television so recently I've just been backing like my Nancy Myers kind of era which is amazing um but I did and and for the festival I think this year we've changed the program so much where like we're still showing the same kind of styles and themes, but we've changed it so much.
We've lent a little bit more into science fiction and thrillers and there's some really great documentaries in there.
I will say that I'm excited for and we've got a high percentage of brand new filmmakers.
Their film wasn't ready when our festival was on or their film wasn't at the same uh criteria or something and now they're here and it's like oh okay but i think when i was thinking about this question um about time come to mind the film
from
i can't remember what year it is now but just about how i think we touched on this earlier like how you can watch a film and change your perspective on it through life About Time, I mean, it was so mismarketed.
I think even the poster, it's like Rachel McAdams and Donald Gleeson and they're just like in the rain.
But it's a science fiction drama.
deep
like legally blonde it's so deep and I think as I when I watched it I must have watched it in my like mid-20s and was just like oh this is really hitting home this is such a lovely film I was not expecting it but then now I'm older and now I have a family it does remind me of really soaking up those moments that might not be big in the grand scheme of things but really reflecting on like I'm not going to have this life forever like there's little pockets of my life that I get to really cherish and the festival's a big part of that like that festival weekend I am in a room at any given moment with so much talent
