Uh, [laughs] Batman was loved by some, hated by others, but the final act, he had won the hearts of many.

Maybe South African politics will have its own version of The Dark Knight Rises.

I just wanna say, Maro, the idea of Helen Zille being The Dark Knight-

I would say, um, the first act is 2007 to 2018, so Zuma's, uh, degradation of the ANC.

Mm-hmm.

Then Ramaphosa's attempt to save it from 2018 to 2024, that's, uh, The Dark Knight.

Kinda like the work he was doing was, that was, you know, pretty wild.

'Cause I remember like, 'cause we were kind of at that age where like when we s- saw The Dark Knight, it was like w- you know, wild to me just like, like wa- watching this guy and be like, "Oh my God, that's him? I can't believe that's him."

And for understanding my movie references at the end.

And then the GIF that I used was a movie reference, and it was The Dark Knight.

And it was when the Joker goes like, six.

When he's being interrogated and asks how many of his cop buddies that he killed.

surveillance and fear movies.

Remember Children of Men came out? And the freaking Dark Knight trilogy, I think, is in response to 9-11 as well.

What was that called? Children of what?

Children of Men.

That's just me.

Dark Knight for me.

I remember when this trend first started, and I think it was like Dark Knight or something where it would like, you'd go from letterbox to f- like IMAX screen-

And so the question is when they say, you know, the Matt Fraction's Dark Knight meets Scott Snyder's absolute Batman in this Batman Day 2026 one shot.

I'm curious to see the degree to which meet yes if that even is the case or if we're just getting two stories one story for scott snyder and one story for um yeah for

the interior art i don't think either one of i don't think this this art team for this book is associated with either of the two monthly books so right um i kind of feel Maybe this is a dream sequence and the regular Batman waits up in the shower and realizes that he hasn't been living in the absolute universe.

The

first one was Heath Ledger on the set of The Dark Knight.

Yep.

And the other was Samantha Morton playing Cersei in that scene when they were filming it.

So I did some research today, and I've actually prepared something.

This was really hard to do, okay? So this thing, for everyone listening, it's the rhythmic equivalent of a shepherd's tone.

So shepherd tone is the thing I think was popularized by Hans in The Dark Knight, where it's that rising tone that feels like it's constantly rising.
