On July 22nd of this year, a pastor in Florida named Scott Winters filed suit in San Francisco against OpenAI and Sam Altman personally.
He alleges that over six weeks, ChatGPT repeatedly minimized his symptoms.
He told them that they were, and this is a quote from the filing, not something dangerous, and advised him to stay in his recliner and wait for further episodes before seeking care.
Amongst the relief that he wants from this suit is an order suspending OpenAI's health product pending independent safety audits.
