Obsession

We do have some trigger warnings we need to get to at the very start here, because there is suicide, there's self-harm, and I'm going to say there is rape in this movie.

Yeah, I think if you definitely turn your head on the side, oh yeah, that's rape.

Yeah, for sure.

Definitely removes a person's consent more or less entirely.

Yeah.

So the making of this movie is a little bit fascinating because this is another movie like The Back Rooms that's made by a YouTuber.

So Curry Barker, whose name sounds like he's standing on a street corner trying to sell you curry...

I'm sure he loves that.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to make that joke.

He was a YouTuber that mostly did comedy.

It was him and Cooper Tomlinson were doing this comedy YouTube channel together.

And then he released a horror short on YouTube called The Chair that got over 10 million views.

Wow.

And so one of these production companies contacted him to make a feature-length version of that short, and instead he pitched them this movie.

Ooh, clever.

There

are several chairs in this movie.

You dumb piece of shit.

I love you too.

But this dude is like 26 years old.

He's super young, and this movie was incredibly successful.

Does he have a background in film?

No, no, just like I said, YouTube.

He's a YouTuber.

Or he was.
